Another Week of Farmville
Even though I am not into games, Farmville is keeping me busy. I try as much to not plow/harvest more than once a day (I plant peppers as they have a good ROI and need exactly 1 day to ripen), but the new super berries on Facebook’s Farmville were way too hard to resist.
Farmville changed a lot this week. Black sheep appeared everywhere and populate my farm now, but their wool seems as good as of the white sheep. So I would say they are good to adopt. Obviously I am not the only one who has gone crazy about that game as I noticed a significant increase in traffic on this blog. Some people even subscribed! All people seem to search for this game
))
As I a have no time for staying all the day on Facebook, I planted pepper which has a profit margin (ROI) of some 560 coins. They have to be harvested only once a day, and so they fit my target pretty well. Next target however, will be sunflowers, they are to be harvested once a day, too but will bring you up to 1,200 coins a week. That is money, isn’t it? Unfortunately I don’t have level 24, yet
Then I noticed the just recently introduced tractor. That is really a cool feature as it let you plow your farm much faster. It’s a pity that fuel is not enough for my farm and buying fuel is too expensive. On the other hand, once could divide the farm in two parts where plants ripe with some 12 hours delay. Harvest, plow, seed the first half of your farm, then wait, let the tractor recharge and go for the next part. Why pay for fuel?
Funny thing about the tractor: the horn function. Click on it and it will make some noise. Nothing useful, but maybe fancy for some people. Oh, and there is also a pink tractor available now, I guess it is for the girls. For all those who thought of buying two tractors: it seems like it will not increase your productivity, as you do not get another load of fuel with the second tractor
Pretty much the same was introduced for animals on Farmville. You may have noticed that they have a pet function now. Activate the sound, pet them and they will make some noise, too. The rabbits don’t. Prolly because the developers didn’t know how a rabbit sounds like, neither do I. Some say to pet the animals will make them more productive and increase their yield. I did not observe such a thing, yet.
I extended my farm twice, and I will do so again. If you need more neighbors on Farmville, there is a useful group on Facebook just dedicated to this very objective of finding Farmville neighbors (Farmville Neighbor Finder). Extending your farm is fine, but a lot of work. As I am lazy I try to keep things simple without moving all plants and animals all the time around. To it’s a good idea to keep plants at the upper margins of your farm, the animals likewise as the farm extends at the lower margins. It will make harvesting also a lot easier. But prolly you noticed already. I did actually somewhat late and the first moving was a pain in the ass.
And now the super berries: they are a really good way to make money, but they will give you no experience. Well, that’s the trade off. But if you would play Farmville all the day (and night) their weekly profit margin or ROI would be well above 6000 coins! That is 6 times more than sunflowers…
And last, but not least, the award for creative planting goes to Vlad, just take a look at the pictures. Cheers mate!

Farmville – Browser Game goin viral on Facebook?
One day Farmville started to invade my wall on Facebook. Quite quick even. And although I never was into games or even browser games I have to admit that I am now taking part among those who fill up other’s walls with Farmwill messages. As Farmville is the 2nd game I am playing in my live (Yeah, ya got it right, the 2nd, the first was Patrizier II) I collected some information on the game, maybe some cheats and tips will follow…
FarmVille is a browser game based on Flash on Facebook, developed by Zynga. As far as I know the game is available for MySpace, too. Obviously, Farmville was inspired by Farm Town. However, the main idea is simple: get yourself signed-up, start by creating an avatar, open up your farm and grow it. This for you can do what all farmers do: Plug and plow your ground, seeding, let plants grow, harvest them and sell them afterwards on the market. Reinvest the money and a new Farmville cycle is about to start. Responsible for me to spent my time with that stuff is Alexandra
))
But Farmville is much more than this. It is a social browser game you can play with all your Facebook friends. Get your friends beeing your neighbors, support each other by sending free gifts for your farms, help each other out with work, gain experience and social reputation etc. You can even leave each other messages on your farms…
Lady Gaga – LoveGame Remix
Lady Gaga is finally back with LoveGame – though the song itself is not that new (as it was already included on her album: »The Fame«), but the video is. And it’s awesome. Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) at her best. Unfortunately the Youtube Clip of LoveGame is restricted (age/location issues etc.) so I decided to go for the Remix from Max Methods. Still close enough to the original. And the lyrics of course
SEO for Bing? Microsoft and Yahoo will merge
Does SEO need to change? Is Search Engine Optimization for Bing different as it was for Yahoo, MSN and Google? Yesterday Microsoft and Yahoo announced that they eventually will end up cooperating concerning Search Engines and Online Advertising. Yahoo will renounce to its own search engine in favor of Microsoft’s new try “Bing” which will be the new search engine for Yahoo’s sites, too. Yahoo in change will manage sales of online advertising to premium customers for both parties. Microsoft AdCenter will remain for self-serve advertising at both companies…
Indeed, Bing as a search engine locks different from msn and maybe is somewhat more fancy. As a marketing gag, its also referred to as »Decision engine« rather than search engine.Accordingly, the SEO scene started to talk already about »DEO« rather than SEO. Google however, should not worry too much (nor it does). So, probably, Google will remain the unchallenged main source for your web traffic. On the other hand, if your site was well ranked on Google, it used to rank well (or even better) on msn and Yahoo!, too. Of course, there have been slight differences, like MSN preferred larger texts or the delay Yahoo put on inbound links until they gained their full weight.
Si daca… what if?
Meda just asked what would happen if she would leave just for one week. (In a more civilized country preferable, at the seaside of course) Vacation, nothing special so far. But what would happen if she would leave without telling anybody that she was leaving? What kind of offline messages would to be found after she returns home? Back to our precious internet world? Good question, funny thing, let’s think about it…
Wolfsheim – The Sparrows and the Nightingales – Lyrics and Video
The Sparrows and the Nightingale was the first single by Wolfsheim, released in 1991, it has been covered several times (e.g. by Mark Oh in 1999, Scream Silence in 2000 or by Gürcan Erdem in 2008). However, I still prefer the original and the initial version. Here the Lyrics of Sparrows and the Nightingale and the official video brought to you via YouTube…
Ofra Haza – Na’ama – Song with Lyrics
Ofra Haza – Na’ama… one of the most beautiful songs I ever listened to. Here the song from Youtube, a decent live performance and the lyrics in Hebrew (transcribed) and English. I have nothing to add, except some thanks to the Ofra Haza Channel from Facebook: Ofra Haza – עפרה חזה, for making me search after this one
Istanbul – Metropolis of Turkey
So I decided to spend some days in Istanbul and to visit some friends over there. The city is just amazing. Istanbul is the 5th largest city of the world, host to 12.6 million inhabitants, divided into 27 districts and surrounding the Bosphorus. Hence, it is located on the Asian and the European continent and actually the only city of the world located on two continents. But there are even more interesting facts about Istanbul to be mentioned…Though it is certainly a modern metropolis, it still features a lot of historical buildings and elements inherited even from ancient times, which are perfectly integrated into the throughout modern face of Istanbul. So, Istanbul was rightly chosen as European Capital of Culture 2010. But beside sightseeing, there are several other things to do. The city is full of clubs, cafes, bars, cinemas and actually, everything you want. during my stay it were 35° C, thus, just perfect for feeling good, hanging around and staying at the seaside. The food is of course extraordinary good, so is the beer
and Raki is fine, too if you are into it.

Romanian Diaries (2) – Monday Morning in Romania
Right, after some months of waiting time might be right for another part of my Romanian diary. This time it is about why I was woken up with the police coming into my home, about the weather (greets to an »Italian«, who moved from Dacia Felix to America) and on how to spend your spare time in Sibiu, the cultural capital of Europe (2007). Romania is sooooo… simply surprising…First of all, weather is great here. We have every day some 26 to 30 °C, a clear sky and the sun is shining. A less enjoyable part is that in Sibiu the wind is also pretty tough, every day, what sometimes turns out to be a bad combination when combined with the heat (as a result, I got a cold). To me it seems to be one of the only reasons imaginable why Mrs. Alina Stefanescu still stays in USA instead of moving back to Romania (a really well done site, indeed!). However, I would like to use this occasion to thank her for the neat demonstration of how some1 Romanians react if they consider their national pride being hurt because foreigners dare not to continuously praise Romania. Probably the »beautiful landscape and nature« would to be praised.2 And to answer the question Alina Stefanescu put to my colleague Alex Cocieru in another part: Yes, WE blog. Not much, but you may see the result here
- However, in general we have fun here. [↩]
- Or as Ina pointed out: »If there is nothing to say people tend to praise the nature and the landscape.« Indeed, the incredible beautiful landscapes are to be mentioned here first, followed by some old houses and decaying castles. But also a small shopping mall might turn out to be considered a remarkable touristic feature. Good for me, as I am not a big fan of nature and landscapes. [↩]
